Ten agreements including expansion of bilateral trade and business are likely to be signed between Dhaka and Colombo during the maiden visit of Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena to Bangladesh.
The agreements would also be signed on mass media, ICT, marine
connectivity and education, a foreign ministry official told BSS today.
Sirisena is coming to Dhaka on Thursday on a three-day official visit at
the invitation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. It would be the first
official visit of Sirisena to Bangladesh since he was elected president in
January 2015.
During the visit, the official said, President Sirisena is scheduled to
hold official meetings with President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh
Hasina.
The issues relating to progress of longstanding bilateral relations and
the way forward to promote trade and investment between the two countries are
likely to be discussed prominently at the official talks.
