India to bring changes in design of Tipaimukh Dam: India has informed Bangladesh that they might bring changes to the controversial Tipaimukh hydroelectric project on an international river, Water Resources Minister Anisul Islam Mahmud said today.In reply to lawmakers’ queries in the parliament, he also said talks at various levels are going on so that the proposed interlinking river project cannot affect Bangladesh if it is implemented.“The joint survey would be finalised based on the data provided in light of change of the shape of the project,” Anisul said.
Due to active monsoon heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur at places over Chittagong, Rajshahi, Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions in 24 hours as of 10am tomorrow due to fairly active monsoon over the country. "Due to heavy to very heavy rainfall landslide may occur at places over the hilly regions of Chittagong and Sylhet divisions," Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) release said here today. Besides "Rain or thunder showers temporary southerly or south easterly gusty or squally wind speed 4 -60 kilometers per hour (kph) is likely to occur over the regions of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Pabna, Bogra, Tangail Mymensingh, Sylhet, Jessore, Kushtia, Dhaka, Faridpur, Madaripur, Khulna, Barisal, Patuakhali, Noakhali Comilla, Chittagong and Cox's Bazar wherein riverports shall hoist cautionary signal number one till 6pm today.
