মানবতাবিরোধী অপরাধে মৃত্যুদণ্ডপ্রাপ্ত মীর কাসেম আলীকে ফাঁসির কথা জানানো হয়েছে। মানিকগঞ্জে তাকে দাফন করার সিদ্ধান্ত নিয়েছে পরিবার। শনিবার সন্ধ্যায় মীর কাসেমের সঙ্গে কাশিমপুর কেন্দ্রীয় কারাগারে সাক্ষাৎ শেষে বেরিয়ে একথা জানিয়েছেন তার স্ত্রী খন্দকার আয়েশা খাতুন। আয়েশা খাতুন বলেন, ‘তিনি (মীর কাসেম) আমাকে বলেছেন, তাকে ফাঁসির কথা জানানো হয়েছে।’ মীর কাসেম শেষ ইচ্ছার কথা জানিয়েছেন কি-না জানতে চাইলে আয়েশা খাতুন বলেন, শেষ মুহূর্তেও ছেলের সঙ্গে দেখা না হওয়ায় আক্ষেপ করেছেন তিনি। পরিবারের দাবি, মীর কাসেমের ছেলেকে আইনশৃঙ্খলা রক্ষাকারী বাহিনী তুলে নিয়ে গেছে। মীর কাসেমের স্ত্রী জানান, মীর কাসেমের ভাই মানিকগঞ্জে একটি জমি কিনে রেখেছিলেন। সেখানেই তাকে দাফন করা হবে। এর আগে মীর কাসেমের সঙ্গে সাক্ষাৎ করতে তার পরিবারের সদস্যদের ডাকে কারা কর্তৃপক্ষ। শনিবার বিকাল ৩টা ৩৫ মিনিটে পরিবারের সদস্যরা সাক্ষাতের জন্য কারাগারে প্রবেশ করেন। বিভিন্ন প্রক্রিয়া শেষে তারা সোয়া ৪টায় দেখা করার সুযোগ পান। সন্ধ্যা পৌনে ৭টায় পরিবারের সদস্যরা কারাগার থেকে বেরিয়ে আসেন। আয়েশা খাতুন বলেন, পরিবার ও নিকট আত্মীয়সহ ২

Looks like the Amitabh Bachchan-starrer Pink, a film that aims to bring awareness about crimes against women, is already changing minds - even before its release. The Central Board of Film Certification has reportedly demanded just “four verbal cuts” in the movie for it to receive a U/A certificate. These four verbal cuts are: ‘Phaad de unki’, ‘Ra***’, ‘Bi***’ and ‘Sa***’, a DNA report claimed. The film’s “commitment to projecting the urban Indian woman’s predicament in a patriarchal society” impressed the board. “The CBFC has always been empathetic to my films, right from Vicky Donor, which was about sperm donation. They have always understood the relevance of my film’s subject,” the report quoted Shoojit Sircar as saying. Sircar has produced the film. Actress Sonam Kapoor says she has not signed any Hollywood project. The Neerja actress, who hinted at going the ‘Hollywood way,’ after she signed with Unitled Talent Agency (UTA), one of America’s topmost talent agencies, took to Twitter to clarify that she has not received any offers from the West. “Just to make it clear I haven’t signed ANY movie... Nor have they been offered to me,” Sonam tweeted. At a time when the government is mulling over a law that punishes celebrities for misleading advertisements, actress Kangana Ranaut feels it is wrong to hold stars liable for brand endorsements. She says actors are just the face of the brand, and it is "entirely" the consumers' responsibility what they choose to buy. "We are just the face of the brand but consumer is the king. They have to make their decision and know that it is entirely their responsibility what they choose to buy and invest their resources in," Kangana told IANS in a telephonic interview from Bengaluru.  The Central government could soon come up with a law that would make celebrities "accountable for misleading ads".
