BGB MEN PATROLLING CITY STREETS

http://www.natunsomoy.com/en/home/newsdetails/38 Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has been ordered to patrol city’s streets with the Dhaka jail preparing for the execution of war criminal Motiur Rahman Nizami. Sources said that the BGB personnel started patrolling the city streets from Tuesday night. Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Public Relations Officer (PRO) Mohsin Reja confirmed the matter to risingbd.com. Besides, other law enforcers also took necessary steps to prevent any untoward situations amid the tension over execution of war criminal Nizami.

WAR CRIMINAL NIZAMI HANGED

War Criminal Motiur Rahman Nizami was hanged for his crimes against humanity in the 1971 Bangladesh`s war of liberation. Nizami also known as the infamous ace leader of Al-Badr bahini in 1971, was executed on Tuesday midnight inside the Dhaka Central Jail amid heightened security measures in the area. Nizami met the same fate as three of his fellow erstwhile leaders of Jamaat  – Qader Mollah, A.H.M. Kamruzzaman, Ali Ahsan Mujahid, - and BNP leader Salauddin Quader Chowdhury.  An ambulance will carry Nizami`s body to his village home at Manmathpur in Santhia upazila of Pabna district. Arrangements were made to bury Nizami in his village home. Earlier in the previous evening, Nizami’s family met him inside the jail. A total of 24 family members went to the jail around 7:50pm and stayed inside for an hour. They left later without saying a word.

Iraq Shia protesters camp out parliament

Supporters of a powerful Shia Muslim cleric have set up camp outside parliament in Baghdad, after thousands stormed the Green Zone secure area. For the first time in weeks of protests they broke into the area, home to embassies and government buildings. A state of emergency has been declared. Security forces used tear gas and fired shots but there was no major violence. Demonstrators are angry at delays in approving a new, more transparent government of technocrats. Supporters of Moqtada Sadr think it would be less corrupt than the current team, which is based on party and religious loyalties. Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi has called on them to return to designated protest areas. 3 held over tailor murder in Tangail

Police have held three suspects, two Jamaat leaders and a BNP activist, over the murder of Hindu tailor at Dubail Bazaar under the district`s Gopalpur upazila. The detainees were identified as Maulana Aminul Islam, Jamaat leader and principal of Alamnagar Madrasah of the area, Badsha, secretary of Gopalupur Upazila Jamaat Unit, and BNP activist Jhantu Mia. Gopalpur Police nabbed them from the district`s Madhupur upazila on Sunday, confirmed Aslam Khan, Tangail (North) Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP). Earlier, Aratai Joardar, wife of slain Nikhil Joardar, lodged a case with Gopalpur Police Station against three unknown people in this connection on Satruday night. However, police also filed another law suit under Arms Act over the incident. Health Minister assures to meet nurses demands

Health Minister Mohammad Nasim has assured to meet the demands of nurses. Rina Akter, President of Bangladesh Diploma Bekar [unemployed] Nurses’ Association (BDBNA) confirmed the matter on Sunday morning.   She said, "Health Minister has assured us to meet our demands and recruit nurses based on batch, merit and academic seniority." Teenage girl found dead in city hotel

Police recovered body of a teenage girl from Hotel Anannya of the capital`s Shaymoli on Sunday morning. The deceased was identified as Beauty Akter, 20, was believed to strangle to death. Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) sources said Sub-Inspector (SI) of Adabar Police Staion Mamun took Beauty`s body to DMCH on Sunday noon. He made the inquest report there. The body is now kept at DMCH for autopsy. According to the inquest report, injury marks were found at different parts of Beauty`s body including neck and hands. SI Mamun said that Beauty and a man named Monir took a room of the hotel at rent identifying them as husband-wife. School teacher held on sexual abuse charge in Jessore

A primary schoolteacher was held at Abhaynagar upazila in Jessore on Saturday night for allegedly sexually abusing a schoolgirl. The arrestee is Asutosh, a teacher of an elementary school in the upazila. Locals said the teacher touched the private parts of the girl first on April 27. He again repeated the crime on Saturday whereby the girl raised screaming. Outraged by the incident, locals encircled the school and staged demonstrations demanding exemplary punishment of the teacher. Later, police arrested the alleged teacher and took him to Abhaynagar Police Station for interrogation. Meanwhile, the accused teacher denied the allegation.
