SHEIKH HASINA PUTS EMPHASIS ON MAKING DIGITAL MOVIES

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today asked filmmakers to emphasize on making digital movies for the development of Bangla film industry.


Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today asked filmmakers to emphasize on making digital movies for the development of Bangla film industry.

The Premier made the assertion while addressing the National Film Award 2014 distribution program at Bangabandhu International Convention Centre (BICC) in city Wednesday afternoon.

She also urged the affluent people to come forward and invest for Bangla movie making as the government can do a little without the cooperation of people.

Sheikh Hasina said, “Movie is not only the way of entertainment; it is also a medium of education, social reforms and changes. We have to make movies considering the values.” 

Most of the cinema hall owners changed their business and reconstructed the halls. But, the medium can be a better way of entertainment through modernizing the halls and it is also a part of social responsibilities, she added.

Sheikh Hasina said besides the modernization of cinemas, the moviemakers should produce socially entertaining movies to attract the viewers.


The premier announced that the country would also be developed with movie industries as the nation has brilliant performers, who need some opportunities and trainings to increase their capabilities.

রোহিঙ্গা নির্যাতনের প্রতিবাদ ড্যাফোডিল শিক্ষক-শিক্ষার্থীদের

মিয়ানমারে রোহিঙ্গাদের হত্যা, নির্যাতনের প্রতিবাদে মানববন্ধন করেছেন ড্যাফোডিল ইন্টারন্যাশনাল স্কুলের শিক্ষক ও শিক্ষার্থীরা। বৃহস্পতিবার দুপুরে স্কুলের বিপরীতে সোবহানবাগে এ মানববন্ধন অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। মানববন্ধন শেষে এক আলোচনা সভা অনুষ্ঠিত হয়। আলোচনায় অংশ নিয়ে স্কুলের শিক্ষকরা বলেন, ধর্ম যার যার, রাষ্ট্র সবার। শুধু ধর্মকে ব্যবহার করে রোহিঙ্গাদের ওপর ইতিহাসের বর্বরোচিত হামলা করে যাচ্ছে মিয়ানমারের সরকারি বাহিনী। এ হামলা থেকে রোহিঙ্গা শিশুরাও রেহাই পাচ্ছে না; যার কারণে তারা নিরাপদ আশ্রয়ের খোঁজে বাংলাদেশে চলে আসছে। বক্তারা বলেন, মিয়ানমারের রাখাইন প্রদেশে যা ঘটছে, তা মানবতাবিরোধী অপরাধ। ইতোমধ্যে বাংলাদেশসহ বিশ্বের বিভিন্ন দেশ বর্বরোচিত এ হামলার নিন্দা ও তা বন্ধের আহ্বান জানিয়েছে। এতে বক্তব্য রাখেন, স্কুলের অধ্যক্ষ শাহানা খান, উপদেষ্টা ড. মাহমুদুল হাসান, সিনিয়র ভাইস প্রিন্সিপ্যাল রহিমা মির্জা রোজিমেরি প্রমুখ। এছাড়া দ্রুত এ হামলা বন্ধ করে বাংলাদেশে আসা রোহিঙ্গাদের ফেরত নেওয়ারও দাবি জানান বক্তারা।

Met office forecasts heavy rainfall likely

Due to active monsoon heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur at  places over Chittagong, Rajshahi, Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions in 24 hours as of 10am  tomorrow due to fairly active monsoon over the country.  "Due to heavy to very heavy rainfall landslide may occur at places over the hilly regions of Chittagong  and Sylhet divisions," Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) release said here today. Besides "Rain or thunder showers temporary southerly or south easterly gusty or squally wind speed  4 -60 kilometers per hour (kph) is likely to occur over the regions of Rangpur, Rajshahi, Pabna, Bogra,  Tangail Mymensingh, Sylhet, Jessore, Kushtia, Dhaka, Faridpur, Madaripur, Khulna, Barisal, Patuakhali,  Noakhali Comilla, Chittagong and Cox's Bazar wherein riverports shall hoist cautionary signal number  one till 6pm today.
